Location: Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International (2.45-mile, 11-turn road
course)
Winner: Kyle Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing (Toyota)
JGR Finish: Kyle Busch (Started 1st, Finished 1st / Running,

Tony Stewart (Started 9th, Finished 2nd / Running, completed 90 of
90 laps)
Denny Hamlin (Started 10th, Finished 8th / Running, completed 90 of
90 laps)
Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 M&M’s Toyota, led the three-car Joe
Gibbs Racing (JGR) contingent at the Watkins Glen (N.Y.)
International road course by winning Sunday’s Centurion at The Glen
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. It was Busch’s 12th career victory,
his series-high eighth of the season and his first at Watkins Glen.
Busch became the first driver since Tony Stewart in 2005 to sweep
both road course races in a season. In June, Busch won at the road
course in Sonoma, Calif.
Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota for JGR, finished
2.275 seconds behind Busch to score his second consecutive runner-up
finish and his eighth of the season.
Denny Hamlin, driver of the No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota for JGR,
finished eighth to score his 11th top-10 of the 2008 season.
The last time all three JGR drivers finished in the top-10 was in
March at Texas Motor Speedway, when Busch finished third, Hamlin
finished fifth and Stewart finished seventh. The Centurion Boats at
The Glen also marked the second time in 2008 that JGR has finished
1-2 as Busch won and Stewart finished second in March at Atlanta
Motor Speedway.
Busch remains the lead JGR driver in the championship point race. He
continues to be the series’ point leader, and extended his advantage
to 242 markers over second-place Carl Edwards. Stewart and Hamlin
occupy the seventh and ninth slots, respectively. Stewart gained two
positions while Hamlin gained one spot. Stewart is 510 points behind
Busch while Hamlin sits 565 points arrears Busch.
Following Busch and Stewart, rookie Marcos Ambrose, Juan Pablo
Montoya and Martin Truex Jr., rounded out the top-five. Kevin
Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Kurt Busch
comprised the remainder of the top-10.
There were four caution periods for nine laps, with five drivers
failing to finish the 90-lap race.
The next event on the Sprint Cup schedule is the Aug. 17 3M
Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. The
race begins at 2 p.m. EDT with live, high-definition coverage
provided by ESPN beginning with its pre-race show at 1 p.m. The race
will also be broadcast live on SIRIUS Satellite Radio Channel 128.
